ACC Security is reaching the final stages of a huge and exciting project – providing commercial security systems for warehouse, distribution and contract packing specialists A.K. Worthington LTD.
Our story starts with a successful project win several months ago. ACC Security pitched the innovative plans to AKW, going up against three other companies, including AKW’s previous security supplier. Fortunately for us, no other design matched the one that was put forward by our talented MD, Simon Farmer.
AKW had a series of complex requirements – it needed commercial security systems to cover not only the inside of the enormous warehouse space, but the entire outside grounds of the premises too. It was Simon’s security solutions that saw us pip the other competitors to the post, and ACC would soon be providing not only this design, but the engineering and installation too.
Working in partnership with Avigilon, one of the world’s leading providers of security and HD CCTV systems, phase one began. This first stage consisted of protecting the interior of the warehouse. This included comprehensive CCTV systems that covered every inch of the huge space, so that AKW could monitor stock as well as logistical processes.
One objective of the CCTV system was to help AKW improve productivity; by monitoring the HGV departures and improving time-management among drivers. Furthermore, distribution specialists Palletline wanted full 360° monitoring of the warehouse to ensure that shipments were being sent to the correct places.
As well as helping run a more efficient and effective operation, the CCTV system is also being used to implement certain health and safety regulations – it’s able to monitor the speed of all vehicles in the warehouse; avoiding any incidents of illegal speeding.
Phase two consisted of extensive security for the outside of the premises. This was a challenging job, as the site runs 24 hours a day and employs over 200 staff members; the now defunct commercial security systems that were in place found it difficult to distinguish between intruders and staff members.
This is where ACC stepped in. We installed the latest in innovative Avigilon HD CCTV camera technology that combines thermal imaging, complex video analytics and intruder alarms. The entire perimeter is now also closely-monitored, with laser protection that feeds back to remotely-monitored cameras; meaning the site and grounds are now under 24/7 surveillance.
With the project entering the final commissioning stage, it’s the end of another successful installation from ACC Security.
